(Mooresville, N.C., April 13, 2015--) Mason Mitchell Motorsports lives by the phrase “Never Give Up,” and Saturday evening in the Troop Aid 200 at the Fairgrounds Speedway the team never gave up and was rewarded with a third place finish with driver Austin Wayne Self (AWS).

“We struggled with a loose condition all day in practice and qualifying,” driver Austin Wayne Self stated. “This team kept working during the race and after the first pit-stop this car came to life and we drove to the front. I am real proud of everyone on the No. 98 AM Technical Solutions Ford, they never gave up and we came home with a solid third place finish. We almost took second on the last lap. I am really looking forward to racing at Salem in two weeks, our short track program is really solid, I know we will be a contender for the win.”

AWS qualified the No. 98 AM Technical Solutions Ford in the 13th position in Menards pole qualifying presented by Ansell after turning a lap of 20.311

When the green flag waved on the third race of the 2015 ARCA Racing Series season, AWS and the No. 98 quickly moved into the top 10. Self was content to log laps and raced inside the top-10 until the evening’s first caution at lap 41. Crew chief Matt Weber elected to bring the sophomore driver down pit-road for 2 tires, a trackbar adjustment and fuel.

Self restarted in the 11th position for the first restart at lap 56. It only took the 19-year-old 12 laps to move into the top-5 for the first time at lap 68. The caution waved at lap 69, AWS and the No. 98 team opted to stay out only having 12 laps on their tires and inherited the lead.

Self led the next seven circuits before settling in the fourth position. Over the final 50 laps the No. 98 car came to life moving from sixth to third during the final run to the checkered flag. Self and the No. 98 team earned their second top-five finish in three races to start the 2015 ARCA season.

The Austin Texas native sits third in ARCA championship points 130 points behind leader Grant Enfinger. Self also sits third in the Calypso Lemonade Short Track Challenge points. The Calypso Lemonade Short Track Challenge consists of 11 short tracks, each driver will be able to drop their lowest finish in the challenge.

Next up for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is the Federated Auto Parts 200 from on April 26th from the historic Salem Speedway. Arcaracing.com will have live  audio for the races as well as timing and scoring for all on-track activity from Salem.
