Noah Gragson Battles Back for Top-15 Finish after Early Engine Woes at Kentucky Speedway

Noah Gragson Battles Back for Top-15 Finish after Early Engine Woes at Kentucky Speedway

(Mooresville, N.C.  September 28, 2015-) 17-year-old Noah Gragson turned heads at the Kentucky Speedway all weekend in his ARCA Racing Series debut with Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM).

The driver of the No. 78 AlertID Ford Fusion qualified an impressive eighth for the Crosley Brands 150 and was running in the sixth position when his No. 78 machine lost a cylinder at lap 15. Gragson hit pit-road and lost three laps in the process while the MMM crew diagnosed the problem. After returning to the track Gragson was consistently running lap times comparable to the top-five.

The Las Vegas, Nevada native never gave up and was able to earn two of his three laps back in the 100 lap event and finish in the 14th position in his ARCA debut.

“This weekend was a big step for my racing career. I can’t thank everyone at MMM enough for their hard work this weekend,” Gragson said after the 100 lap event.

“We had a top-five car, unfortunately we lost a cylinder at lap 15. We lost three laps on pit-road and was still able to battle back and finish 14th one lap down.”

“This weekend was a great experience, I want to thank MMM and AlertID for this opportunity. Without their support I wouldn’t have been able to race. Hopefully we will be able to do some more ARCA races in the future.”

The race was scheduled for Friday evening but due to persistent rain throughout the evening the race was postponed until Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.

Gragson is currently leading the NASCAR K&N West point standings with two races remaining in the 2015 season. In his rookie campaign in the West division the young phenome’s earned two wins, seven top-five’s and ten top-ten’s in eleven starts. Noah’s next K&N West race will be October 17th at the All American Speedway located in Roseville, California.

Mason Mitchell Motorsports has two ARCA wins during the 2015 season at Winchester Speedway and the Iowa Speedway.

The ARCA Racing Series has one more event remaining in the 2015 season at the Kansas Speedway, the Kansas 98.9 on October 16th. The race will be live on Fox Sports 1 beginning at 8:30 p.m. EST.  ARCA will also provide live timing and scoring for all on-track activity presented by AM Technical Solutions and Pirate Energy.
