Late Issue Spoils Grant Enfinger and Mason Mitchell Motorsports Chance at Victory at Toledo

(Mooresville, NC, May 20, 2018) – 2015 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards champion Grant Enfinger made his 2018 season debut in the Menards 200 at the Toledo Speedway driving the No. 78 Champion Power Equipment entry. Enfinger qualified in the 12th spot and wasted no time moving when the green flag dropped moving into the top-10 at lap two.

Enfinger’s march toward the front would continue moving as high as sixth before the afternoon’s first pit-stop at lap 71.

The No. 78 crew would deliver a quick stop sending Enfinger back to the track inside the top-five for the first time.

When the race resumed at lap 82 the No. 78 car would continue moving toward the front passing Sheldon Creed for fourth and then Harrison Burton two laps later at lap 82 to move into third.

With 76 laps remaining, smoke started to pour from underneath the No. 78 machine. Enfinger would stay on track and hold on for the next 46 laps until the yellow waved. Unfortunately, he would lose a lap in the process. The smoke would intensify forcing Enfinger down pit-road for good with four laps remaining in the event.

The team would finish in the 12th spot six-laps down.

“Overall we had a solid car all weekend,” driver Grant Enfinger stated. “Everyone at MMM brought us a car capable of winning. We slowly worked our way through the field and was sitting in a great spot to compete for the win. Unfortunately, something went wrong in the steering after halfway. I’m not sure exactly what it was but it made it quite difficult to drive. We were lucky to be able to complete as many laps as we did and were able to bring it home in one piece for these guys for them to take to the next race.”

It’s a busy week for the Mason Mitchell Motorsports team as the team hosts the first team “fan fest” on Tuesday, May 22nd from 1:00-5:00 P.M. at the teams shop located in Mooresville. The team will then head to the Charlotte Motor Speedway for Thursday evenings General Tire 150. It marks the first race for ARCA at Charlotte since 2004. The team will field two entries for Max Tullman and Quin Houff. Both drivers took part in the open test session a little over a week ago at the 1.5-mile facility.

The General Tire 150 will air live on Fox Sports 1 at 9:00 PM ET. Arcaracing.com will have live timing and scoring for all on-track activities throughout the day at Charlotte.
