Mason Mitchell Motorsports PapaNicholas Coffee150 Post Race Review
(Mooresville, NC) Friday evenings Papa Nicholas 150 at Gateway Motorsports Park marked the halfway point of the 2018 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menard season. It also marked the first time since 2007 that ARCA has raced at the 1.25-mile track. Max Tullman, driver of the No. 78 Zoomi/Myota Chevrolet for Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM) had high hopes entering the 120-lap event making his sixth start of the 2018 season. Unfortunately, an incident in Thursday’s open test and rain canceling the first practice put a difficult task ahead of the 20-year-old driver. Tullman qualified in the 14th position and was racing inside the top-15 on lap 44 when an incident ended Tullman’s evening. The No. 78 would finish in the 19th position.
“This was a very difficult weekend,” a dejected Tullman stated. “This was definitely a learning experience for myself and the entire team. We will put this weekend behind us and head to Chicagoland on Thursday. I’m really looking forward to making my first 1.5-mile start next week with Mason Mitchell Motorsports. I’m really looking forward to bouncing back and competing for our first top-five finish.”
MMM and ARCA are in the busiest part of the 2018 schedule. The team is currently in the middle of 11 straight races with the ARCA Series.
The team will turn their attention toward the first 1.5-mile track of the season Chicagoland Speedway on Thursday, June 28th.
Chicago holds a special place in MMM’s hearts. In 2014, driver Mason Mitchell captured the teams first win in just their 10th start racing with the series.
MMM will field two cars in the SCOTT 150. Blaine Perkins will make his third start of the 2018 season and his 1.5-mile debut driving the No. 98 and teammate Max Tullman will make his seventh appearance racing for MMM in 2018.
The SCOTT 150 will be live on Fox Sports 1 on Thursday beginning at 9:00 PM ET. Arcaracing.com will have live timing and scoring for all on-track activities from Chicagoland.
